Indie Spotlight: Roy L. Carrington Jr.
Each month, we’ll highlight one indie photographer whose body of work deserves special recognition. Please enjoy their photography here, and make it a point to enjoy the rest of their work on their website.
This month we’re featuring Roy Carrington, from Libertyville, IL. We were especially drawn to Roy’s eye for the city. His cityscapes are consistently creative and beautiful. Check out Roy’s complete set of B&W shots of Chicago here.
Roy L. Carrington Jr.
Roy started with photography in high school. Graphic Communications. He used to love being in the dark room developing pictures, which is the main thing he miss about using digital. His tastes for what to shoot are varied, and have evolved over time. He never used to shoot pictures with people in them, but now he almost never takes a shot without someone in it. He’s always loved the work of Ansel Adams (who doesn’t!), but he also like the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson. There’s just something about taking pictures of life as it is happening that he finds exhilarating.
Roy currently works in the IT field as a Network Administrator. He’d love to be able to switch over to photography full-time, but doesn’t see that happening anytime soon. He has to pay the bills!! Until then he’ll continue to stroll the streets and snap photos of everyday life.
Jesse Conklin is a photographer, actor and musician, He enjoys learning what makes people “tick” creatively and helping them achieve their artistic potential. When he is not acting or taking pictures, he enjoys reading, exploring the great outdoors, and spending time with friends.
