Photo Gadget of the Week: Spider Camera Holster
Spider Camera Holster

OK, so this one has been on the market for a couple of months now, I still think this holster is hot. I have been waffling on the effects of lugging the weight of a camera on my waist, and inevitably having the ‘no pants on’ syndrome. After browsing through the many reviews out there and watching the videos, I feel its a truly must have item if you’re a photog that needs a free hand and the ability to quickly get your camera.

My common practice has always been to wrap the strap around my hand (resulting in extreme blood loss) because of my butterfinger tendencies. The good folks at Spider look to have provided a way to allow a much freer range of movement.
The construction is solid, and sturdy. There is no chintzy design in the product. Made specifically for the larger heavier DSLRs out there, word is that they are planning on a 2nd version for the lighter cameras. Price range for the system is pretty good also, $110.
Being added to my arsenal in the near future, still would like to have the comfort of a wrist strap. Maybe a releasable wrist strap for us clumsier photogs would be nice.
Added bonus of this holster, the feeling of being and old west gunslinger.

Ha, another way to make using 2 cameras feel even cooler. It looks pretty sweet. Wonder what happens when you crouch down quickly with a big tele lens on though?
Good question, Hopefully I won’t be the one to find out. I am going to only use it on my shorter telephoto’s. The nice thing is, you can get a second plate for your second camera s so both can swap on the holster.
OK, this is sick! I wonder if they make is in brown leather?….With Tassels..
