Ha ha, good thinking Thayne.

Anil - whenever I get shy about asking people if I can take their picture, I always think "what's the worst that could happen?" They say no, and you carry on. Plus it's not like they will ever see you again. Plus, 9 times out of 10, the picture will be worth whatever embarrassment you had to go through to get it.

Love the post
Definetly don't be afraid to ask someone to help with a pic using your camera on vacation. If I'm ever in a bind and really want my face in a pic, I look for people carring cameras, that look like they know how to handle one, instead of people who look like they don't, and can run really fast.

The one I'm guilty of is being shy and asking people if I can take their picture. I'd also add take lots and lots of them. On of the benefits of digital cameras!

These are some great tips and they are a good reminder for me not to spend my whole trip taking pictures. I have a big trip coming up and I need to make sure that I make the time to enjoy the moment instead of always looking to capture it.

My wife and I actually bought one of those extender poles so that we could snap shots of the two of us without "the arm" in the frame. We're going to look very touristy, but it will help if there's no one around to take the picture for us.
