Doktor Thomas - does the third thumb help your photography? :)

Roberto - Rock on! That's the beauty of photography these days, it's so accessible and the only limit is your vision and imagination.

I have to say that was a great and very well written article. I've actually been following a good deal of that advice without realizing it. I personally shoot on a Nikon D40 and use OnOneSoftware's Genuine Fractals for enlargements. Smartest thing I ever did. I find that taking good shots is more about lighting and knowing what you are doing than having a $3000 camera.

I echo those sentiments. Three thumbs-up!
I went from a Yashica SLR to a Canon Rebel xti.
(Saving for the next step up.)
My good pictures are really good. (~24/1300)
The rest are about the same dribble (definitely the shooter's fault).
The art part:
Good, creative subject content
(everywhere when you don't have your camera, nowhere when you do).
Having an eye for the small space with beauty in it. (Tough. Look again.)
Being ready and being there where the good shots are (challenging, like space shots).
Patience. Dedication. (The human weaknesses.)
And studying your mistakes is priceless. (Honesty counts.)
Freshly charged batteries are a bonus!!! ;-)
And don't forget the emotion part.
(If the pics don't speak to people's emotion, then they only bark..... no matter how technically admirable.)

Someday, someone somewhere will say, "He is a photographer..."
I am working on that a few frames at a time.
(You can make money at this!?!) :-)

Clear headed thought; thanx.
